It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Michael Wayne Evensiosky “Evens.” Mike passed away on January 7, 2024, at the age of 61 years old where he was surrounded by so much love from his family and close friends. Mike was a loving son, brother, father, uncle, and friend to many. He will be deeply missed by everybody who knows him.
Mike was born and raised in Idaho Falls, Idaho, on May 8, 1962, to his mama, Norma Gwen Caughie Shuldt, and his father, Merlin Joe Evensiosky. He grew up and attended school at O.E. Bell Elementary where he enjoyed playing baseball and wrestling on the school’s team.
Later in life, he became a dad to his firstborn son, Joey Evensiosky, who was born on July 30, 1982. Joey and Mike shared a lot of really great memories and Mike would teach things to Joey about fishing and camping that Joey now teaches to all of his kids. On July 8, 1999, he welcomed his baby girl, Teara Evensiosky, his daughter and sidekick. Mike and Teara shared a very special bond that was unbreakable. Between the random late-night adventures and water fights that somehow always ended up in the house, nothing could come between these two. There was never a dull moment when Mike was around, and every day was a new adventure. Mike loved his kids very much, they were his pride and joy.
Anyone who knew Mike knew that he was a protector. He was the person you would call if you needed any situation taken care of, good or bad. He didn’t take any bullshit from anyone, especially when it came to his kids, family, or his friends. Besides being a bad ass, Mike had a big passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed going camping and fishing in his off time, and he enjoyed being a menace by blowing things up with his homemade fireworks and building huge fires that were almost not manageable.
Aside from his scrappy personality, Mike had the biggest heart known to man. Even if he had nothing left, he was the type of person who would give you the shirt off of his back and go without, no hesitation or thought about it. He had the softest, kindest, and most unique soul that will be missed every day.
He is survived by Joey Evensiosky (Claudia) and their four kids, Teara Evensiosky (Shayna) and their two fur babies, Theresa Clapp, Michelle Evens Wahl (Steve), Larry Evens (Nicole), Kristi Jensen (Norm), Gaylen Schuldt (Rachel), and Geremy Schuldt (Dana).
He is preceded in death by his mama, Norma Schuldt; father, Joe Evensiosky; and his precious Babe dog.
A Celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m. January 27, 2024, at the Holiday Inn & Suites in Idaho Falls, Idaho, in the Mesa Banquet Room. Everyone is welcome to join. Bring a side or just bring yourself. BYOB.
