MICHAEL E. COVINGTON
IDAHO FALLS, ID - Michael E. Covington, 45, of Idaho
Falls passed away on July 19, 2004. Mike was a loving husband, father,
grandfather, brother, mentor, and friend to all who knew him.
He was born on April 6, 1959, in Blackfoot, Idaho as
one of the youngest of six children, the son of Max and Eddis Ellis Covington.
As he grew up, Mike enjoyed a happy and memorable upbringing with a close
family with many outdoor adventures. He had many fun friendships along
the way.
Michael could find good in any situation and the good
in every person. He was strong, steady and a dedicated family man that
believed in kindness.
Mike married at an early age, and had three children
with Shawna Madson.
In 1986, Mike “once is enough” and Karla
“never again” were married. They have shared 18 wonderful
years completing the circle of love for one another. Mike continued the
tradition of raising a loving family with Karla as devoted parents raising
6 children.
Mike's love and memories will continue on through his
wife, Karla Covington; daughter, Mandy Covington; son, Al Covington (Diana
Covington); son, Jamie Covington; daughter, Andrea Cyr; son, Trevor Covington,
and daughter, Mary Eddis Covington. Mike has 5 grandchildren. Mike was
very proud of his children and reveled in their accomplishments, and encouraged
their future. He supported his children in everything they did.
His love will continue on through his grandmother, Marie
Covington, father, Max Covington and his wife Joy Covington, his twin
brother, Dave Covington (Christy Covington), and sisters Melody Tovey
(Randy Tovey), Becky Covington, and Joni Lindberg (Lindy Lindberg).
Mike's passing was preceded by his mother, Eddis Covington,
and his brother, Val Covington.
Mike has always enjoyed the outdoors, and was known to
go hunting, fishing, skiing and hiking. He also enjoyed sports in high
school and continued his interest by coaching the YMCA basketball team
for 7 years.
Mike started working at the INEEL site when he was 18
years old. He started as an errand runner in the mail department, and
worked his way up to an Area Manager. He has worked at the site for 27
years. he was a dedicated, hard working, and valuable asset to all of
the companies he worked for.
While Mike was busy working full time, and raising six
children, he also managed to go back to school to earn a Bachelor's Degree
in Industrial Technology. He then continued on to earn a Master's Degree
in Science (Industrial Technology). Mike also received Awards of Proficiency
in Waste Management and Industrial Safety. He maintained a 4.0 grade point
average through it all!
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 23,
2004 at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge). The family will visit with friends
Thursday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) and for
one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Annis-Little Butte Cemetery.
