A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother, Melvin Swindale, 87, originally from Circleville, Kansas, passed away peacefully at his home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, on January 19, 2025.
He graduated from Circleville High School in 1957. He entered the United States Air Force and served as a radio repairman and received an Honorable Discharge in 1963. After the military, Melvin went to work at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and was a United Steel Workers Local 307 member. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Washburn University in 1967.
Melvin was a loving, devoted, strong-willed man that positively impacted so many lives over his lifetime.
Melvin was an active member in the Pikes Peak Christian Church, Hope Lutheran Church in Idaho Falls, and both the Kansas and Colorado Springs Corvette clubs. His passion for classic cars and collecting Hot Wheels was only surpassed by his love for his family.
He married Ruth Kranz in 1960 and had two children, James and Julie. Melvin and Ruth were married until Ruth passed away in 2006. Melvin and Patti Nelson were married in 2011. He gained five new children with his marriage to Patti: Debra, Cynthia, Mike, Jeff, and Jodi.
He is survived by his wife, Patti; his son, James; his daughter, Julie; his brothers, Leonard and Darryl; his step-children, Debra, Cynthia, Mike, and Jodi; 21 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Edna; his sister, Mae; brother, Duane; and stepson, Jeff.
