IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Melvin M. Bell, 92, of Idaho Falls, died June 22, 2010, at his home of a heart attack. Mel was born July 22, 1917, in Sayre, Oklahoma, to William Preston Bell and Nettie Jane Ferguson Bell. He grew up in Sayre and graduated from high school there. He then attended the Cal Poly Tech. Mel married Arlo Sadie Lind in 1940 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Arlo passed away in 1979. He joined the U. S. Army Air Corps and served as a Bombardier and First Lieutenant in World War II. He came to Idaho Falls 50 years ago and worked as a Mechanical Engineer at the INL until his retirement. A member of the Elks Lodge, Mel was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion and served on the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team. Mel enjoyed fishing and hunting. Survivors include: His Son: S. James Bell of Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Lona R. Santana of Kalispell, MT Son: David L. Bell of Chandalar, AK 6 Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Arlo S. Bell. Private Family Services will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
