IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Melvin Marcellus Beattie, 91, of Idaho Falls, died September 25, 2007, at his home. He was under the care of Idaho Home Health & Hospice.
He was born May 26, 1916, in Burton, Idaho, to William Marcellus Beattie and Mary Ellen Neibour Beattie. He attended schools in Burton.
He was called to service in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
He married Ada Stewart November 17, 1951, in Rigby, Idaho. She preceded him in death November 7, 1996. He worked as a carpenter all over Eastern Idaho with the Carpenter and Millwright Local Union #808.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed fishing and camping.

Son: Melvin Wayne Beattie, Idaho Falls, ID
Daughter: Linda Kay (Ronald) Bauer, St. Anthony, ID
3 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ada; a sister, Reba Dunn; and a brother, Marion Beattie.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2007, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue, Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at Wood Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Wilford Cemetery near St. Anthony, Idaho, and Veterans Rites will be performed by the Fremont County American Legion. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Melvin Beattie Memorial Fund, payable to RayLynn Beattie, 2044 Duchess Drive, Idaho Falls, ID 83401.
