MELBA PARKINSON
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Melba May Biggs Parkinson, 90, of
Idaho Falls, died October 24, 2004, at Life Care Center of causes incident
to age.
She was born September 2, 1914, at the home of her grandparents
in Cove, Utah, to Alma Wright Biggs and Stella Williams Biggs. She grew
up and attended schools in Franklin, Idaho, and graduated from Franklin
High School. After high school she graduated from beauty school in Logan,
Utah.
She married Albert Monson Parkinson February 2, 1938,
in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple. They made their home in Cache Valley.
When her husband entered the military during World War II, she returned
to Franklin where she worked as the Postmistress.. After his return from
the war they moved to Palisades, Idaho, then came to Idaho Falls in 1951.
She was a homemaker and mother. Later in life she worked at D & L
Cleaners for more than 10 years. Her husband passed away June 30, 1999.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints, she served in various capacities over the years, including service
in the Primary Presidency and as a Primary teacher. She had a great love
for the Relief Society and served in the Stake Relief Society Presidency
and on the Stake Board for many years. She was a talented seamstress and
enjoyed reading, gardening, and family history research.

Daughter: Marsha Parkinson, Charlottesville, VA
Daughter: Evelyn Annette (Lloyd) Bell, Aloha, OR
Daughter: Rebecca Parkinson, Idaho Falls, ID
7 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Albert, and a son,
Vance.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October
30, 2004, at the Idaho Falls LDS Mountain View Ward, 1450 Mountain View
Lane, with Bishop Kerry Holmgren officiating.
The family will visit with friends Friday from 7 to 8:30
p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) and Saturday for one hour prior
to the services at the church.
Burial Services will be at 4:00 p.m. in Franklin Cemetery
under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
