MELBA M. OPPERMAN
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Melba Mahala Thornock Opperman, 74, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 11, 2006, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
She was born October 26, 1932, in Bloomington, Idaho, to Kenneth Orin Thornock and Bardella "Betty" Rasmussen Thornock. She grew up in Bloomington and attended school in Montpelier, where she graduated from Montpelier High School.
She married Lewis L. Opperman February 4, 1950, in Montpelier. Their marriage was solemnized April 1, 1954, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home in Idaho Falls, where she worked as a teller, loan processor, and supervisor at area banks. She also cared for her husband, Lewis, for several years until he passed away December 10, 1992.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in various callings throughout the years, and she especially loved working with the Young Women and in Family History. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and served as Historian. She was a member of the Sewettes Sewing Club. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, crafts, playing pinochle with her friends, games, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Melba’s kind, uncomplaining, and giving ways were an inspiration to all who knew her.

Brother: Roy Thornock, Ogden, UT
Sister: Donna Cook, Brigham City, UT
19 Grandchildren & 16 Great Grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Richard Thornock, and a sister, Doris Williams.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2006, at the Idaho Falls LDS Mountain View Ward, 1450 Mountain View Lane, with Bishop Kerry Holmgren officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, and Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
