RIGBY, ID -- Melba Field, 97, of Rigby, died December 11, 2008, at her daughter’s home of causes incident to age. She was under the care of Aspen Hospice.
She was born March 19, 1911, in Ammon, Idaho, to Alfred LeRoy Southwick and Permelia Losser Southwick. She spent a very few childhood years in California before returning to Ammon. She graduated from Ammon High School.
She married Parley R. Field June 1, 1934, in the Salt Lake City, Utah, LDS Temple. They made their home in Ammon. She worked beside Parley on the family farm where they raised their five children. Parley preceded her in death on November 5, 1999.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many church callings. She loved to sew, crochet, tend her flowerbeds, and square dance.

Daughter: Kathleen (Lynn) Hart, Portland, OR
Brother: Roy Southwick, Idaho Falls, ID
25 Grandchildren , 67 Great Grandchildren, & 4 Great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Parley; a son, Roy Joe Field; one granddaughter, one grandson, and two great-grandsons.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2008, at Wood Funeral Home East Side Chapel, 963 S. Ammon Road, with Bishop Danny Ferguson of the Shelton LDS Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends on Monday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services, with both visitations at Wood East Side. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
