Maxine Bright Mower,74, passed away August 24, 2017, at Life Care Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Maxine was born July 30,1943, the second of six children born to Kenneth Arnold Thornley and Estella "Stella" Spackman Bright Thornley. Maxine grew up in Idaho Falls and graduated from Shelley High School in 1961. She went to nursing school at the Sacred Heart Hospital, graduating as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Maxine worked in Idaho Falls hospitals, and later moved to Salt Lake City and worked at the LDS Hospital.

Maxine married Jim Mower in 1969. Their daughter, Michele J’Nea Mower, was born in 1977. Jim and Maxine were later divorced. Maxine continued to work as a nurse in Idaho Falls, retiring in 1989, after a stroke. Maxine was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She loved to crochet, knit, and cook. She was known for her sense of humor and quick wit.

Maxine was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is survived by her daughter, Michele (TJ Schmidt) Mower of Idaho Falls; brother, Bob (Julie) Thornley of Shelley; sisters, MaryAnn (Ray) Petersen of Idaho Falls and Elaina (Raymond) Williams of Firth; grandchildren, Salina, Mackensy, Connor, and Daniel; and many nieces and nephews. Maxine was preceded in death by her father and mother, brother, Rex Thornley, brother-in-law, James Rardin, and sister, Stella Rardin.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2017, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park.
