Max Glenn Smith

Max Glenn Smith, 81, of Rexburg, passed away October 24, 2023, at Homestead Assisted Living. He was under the care of Eden Hospice and his loving family.

Max was born July 10, 1942, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Eugene Ellington "Nick" Smith and Cristel Hill Smith. He grew up and attended schools in Lyman, Wyoming, and Ucon, Idaho. He graduated from Bonneville High School.

On February 23, 1962, he married Karen Lee Jennings in Driggs, Idaho. Max and Karen made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Max worked as a custodian for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved teaching the youth, fishing, camping, boating, family dinners, playing with grandkids and great grandkids, and snowmobiling with family and friends. He was also a one-year wrestling State Champion, and still holds the record at Bonneville High School.

Max is survived by his wife, Karen Smith of Rexburg, ID; daughter, Michelle (Bruce) Hirschi of Willard, UT; daughter, Debbie (Alan) Schaefer of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Mabel (Burleigh) Tomchak of Roberts, ID; sister, Martha (Bruce) Johnson of Milo, ID; brother, Benny (Shauna) Smith of Milo, ID; brother, Grant (Irene) Smith of Pahrump, NV; brother, Buzz (Vicki) Smith of Milo, ID; sister-in-law, Coleen Smith of Delta, UT; 13 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Baby Karen Smith; sons, Troy and Trent Smith; and brother, Harry Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, with Bishop Brian Shultz of the Idaho Falls 32nd Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery.
