Alta Mavis Ashliman Pickett, 83, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 25, 2010, at her home of natural causes. Mavis was born November 30, 1927, in Logan, Utah, to Eldon Ashliman and Alta Clark Ashliman. She attended Idaho Falls High School. She has lived most of her 83 years in Idaho Falls and surrounding areas. She married Meade Doyle Pickett April 4, 1952, in Logan, Utah. Mavis was a homemaker and mother. In addition, she worked in housekeeping at the West Bank Hotel for over 30 years. Meade passed away January 26, 1996. Mavis was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed scrapbooking, sewing and quilting, puzzles, dancing, doll collecting, and playing pinochle. Mavis is survived by two daughters, Sharlene Lee of Idaho Falls, and Margaret Mitchell of Boise, ID; two sons, Michael Pickett and Kim Pickett both of Idaho Falls; two sisters, Carlene Kelsch of Kamiah, ID and Verl Hayner of Idaho Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2010, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 to 10:45 a.m., both at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Ammon Cemetery.
