Mavis Jean Jones Olson, 94, of Idaho Falls, passed away on January 12, 2016, at MorningStar Senior Living Center.
She was born April 22, 1921, in Rigby, Idaho, to Karl Jones and Ethel Kinghorn Jones. She grew up and attended schools in the area.
On March 6, 1936, she married Ronald William Olson in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on March 30, 1967. To this union were born four sons: Ronald Dee, A. Vaughn, Stewart, and Monte. Mavis was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker and supported her husband in his work on the farm. Her husband preceded her in death on March 12, 1998.
Mavis was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in her callings which included Relief Society President and full-time missionary at the Bishop’s Storehouse. She enjoyed quilting, needlework, canning, cooking and especially loved spending time with her family.
Survivors are: son, A. Vaughn (Susan) Olson, Redlands, CA, son, Monte (Mary) Olson, Idaho Falls, ID, daughter in-law, Joan Olson of Salt Lake City, UT, and many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and Great-Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, two brothers, and a sister.
The family would like to thank everyone that helped with the care of Mavis.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016, at the Idaho Falls LDS Coltman First Ward (12448 North 5th East) with Bishop Blair Sautter officiating. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) and on Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
