Maurice "Roby" Robison

MAURICE "ROBY" ROBISON IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Maurice LeRoy “Roby” Robison, 79, died September 7, 2005, at Life Care Center of Idaho Falls from natural causes. He was born April 20, 1926, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Roy Asper and Ruby Evelyn Molen Robison. He grew up and attended schools in the Idaho Falls area. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. On November 26, 1946, he married his sweetheart, Lola Evelyn Walker, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. During the winter, they lived in Ammon and farmed at the “Robison Ranch” in Bone in the summer months. To Roby, the ranch was his haven away from the world where he spent many hours in quiet reflection. Although he and his wife traveled to many places over the course of his lifetime, Bone was always the place he referred to as home. He was a member of the Elks Lodge for many years and was recognized by the Chamber of Commerce for his achievements in small business. Roby was the first man in Idaho to own a snowmobile, which resulted in a partnership with Arctic Cat as the distributor for 11 Western States. He subsequently opened the first industrialized sewing plant in Idaho, which manufactured Sno Rider snowmobile clothing. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held the office of High Priest. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him including his sweetheart of 59 years, Lola, and his children, Randy (Susan) Robison, Larry (Cathie O’Dell) Robison, Janae (Kim) Harris, Jill (Bennie) Cooley, 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings include Shirley (Don) Robison, Rulon (Joan) Robison, Kay (Jean) Robison, Steve (RaNae) Robison, Val (Connie) Robison, and Carol Robison. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dick Robison. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2005, at the Ammon LDS 1st Ward, 3000 Central Avenue, with Bishop Jim Summers officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to a Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Wood East Side Chapel, 963 South Ammon Road, and for one hour prior the services Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
