Mary Masterson

Mary E. Masterson, 88, formerly of Idaho Falls, passed away July 11, 2015, in Elk Grove, California. Mary was born April 29, 1927, in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas. After high school, she graduated from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas, with a degree in mathematics. In September, 1947, she married Richard G. “Dick” Masterson and they lived in Idaho Falls for 42 years, until Dick passed away in 1995. She later taught algebra at O. E. Bell Junior High School and truly enjoyed it. Mary was a social, loving, and active member of Trinity United Methodist Church while in Idaho Falls. She loved working with the youth, in the woman's circles, and doing mission work. In 2001, Mary moved to Sacramento, California, to be near her four children and grandchildren. She was very active in Faith Presbyterian Church and served as a Deacon, helped with meals for Family Promise and serving in any way needed. Her love of life and family and helping others brought her much Joy! Mary is survived by her daughter, Sally Allen (Alfred), and three sons, Garrett (Ritsuko) Masterson, Tom (Kame) Masterson, and Don (Amy) Masterson, 7 grandchildren, Jerry Metcalf, Nancy Jacobs, Kate (Luke) Hayhurst, Sarah Masterson, Anna Masterson, Kevin Masterson, Maddi Masterson; four great grandchildren, Carter Jacobs, Riley Jacobs, Brady, Porter and Emerie Porter. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters, and two brothers. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 2, 2015, at Faith Presbyterian Church, 625 Florin Road, Sacramento, California. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer Association, c/o Alzheimer's Association National Office, 225 N.
