MARY LOUISE NIELSEN HENDERSON IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, Mary Louise Nielsen Henderson of Idaho Falls, returned to live with her loving companion, son and her Heavenly Father on June 19, 2010. She was at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 102 years old. Grandma was born on April 9, 1908, at Spanish Fork, Utah, to Mitchell Rasmus Nielsen and Sarah Elizabeth Turner Nielsen. She was the third child of four children. Her brother, Arthur passed away as a young child, and she had a close and loving relationship with her two sisters, Rose and Alice. On August 7, 1928, Grandma married Arthur Ray Henderson, while he was working on the Roosevelt Dam in Phoenix, Arizona. They were married for 72 years before Grandpa passed away on August 24, 2000. They returned to Clifton where they operated a service station for several years. Their son, Neil Ray Henderson was born on August 9, 1934. On October 5, 1938 they were blessed with their daughter, Jerrie Louise Henderson Payne. Grandma and Grandpa moved to Sonora California where they owned and operated a Dude Ranch for several years, before moving back to Idaho. They settled in Idaho Falls, and a few years later they bought two farms in the Lincoln area where they lived until 1964. They then built a new home in Idaho Falls, where she lived until her death. Grandma and Grandpa built several fine homes in the Idaho Falls area. They owned the Ross Hotel for a time, they developed the Henderson Trailer Park in Lincoln and several apartments in Idaho Falls. In 1948, Grandma and Grandpa bought a 20 acre parcel of land, sight unseen, at Mack’s Inn in Island Park. They developed this land and built several cabins. In the 1960's they donated land to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where the large log church was built at Mack’s Inn. Grandpa and Grandma lost their beloved son, Neil Ray Henderson, on May 11, 1951, when he was killed in a car accident in Idaho Falls. On April 19, 1952, their family was sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Neil, Grandma and Grandpa are now celebrating a joyous reunion. Grandma was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many positions in the Relief Society, Sunday School and doing genealogy work throughout the years. Grandma loved to have her family around her, including her daughter, granddaughters, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. We loved to be with her too! Grandma loved to stay busy and active. She was a social person and made a lot of friends. Her friends were very special to her. She had a real estate license, was a active member of Music Club, Garden Club and was a fierce competitor at Bridge. She went to “club” to play cards every week until shortly before she passed away. She loved to sew, crochet, knit and was one of the best cooks around. Grandma was able to stay in her own home until her death, due to the loving care of her beloved “adopted” grandson, Salvador Bolainez. She loved Salvador, and he loved her too. We want to thank Salvador and his family for their loving support and care of our Grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband Ray; her son Neil; her two sisters and brother. She is survived by her daughter, Jerrie (Richard) Payne of Idaho Falls, three grand-daughters, Debi (Kevin) Davis of Idaho Falls, Sara (Brent) Swapp of Vancouver, Washington, and Teresa (Jeff) Nielson of Syracuse, Utah. Also eight great-grandchildren, Angela (Nathan) Lott, Brandon (Anna) Davis and Casey Davis all of Idaho Falls, Chase, Blake and Arianne Swapp all of Vancouver, Washington and Skye and Katy Nielson of Syracuse, Utah. She also has 6 great-great grandchildren, Kylie, Jamyn, Whitney, Jace, Krew and Kynzi Lott, of Idaho Falls. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Wood Funeral Home “Chapel of the Pines,” 273 N. Ridge Avenue. The family will meet with friends Monday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m., both visitations at Wood Fneral Home. Burial will be at Fielding Memorial Park. ---------------------------------------------------- Condolences received online: A. Jackson annebrock64@gmail.cpm My heartfelt sympathies to the family as you cope with the loss of a loved one. May the fond memories shared bring comfort during this difficult time of grief and pain. (Please read John 5:28,29) Ruby Sharp Jerrie and family, we wish to express our deepest sympathy for the loss of your mother. She was a wonderful lady and always had a smile on her face and a kind word. May the Lord bless you at this time of sorrow. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Ruby Sharp and family Becky Sharp Gerdes and family Linda Johnson Mansfield lindea39@msn.com Dear Jerrie and family, Peggy called to let me know about your mom's passing. I've had a flood of memories of the times I spent in your home as a child and of your mother. I always felt so welcome. I loved going to the "show" and stopping for a hamburger and rootbeer at the A and W. Your Mom always made sure they took the mugs back and filled them up if there was too much foam! Another memory was the fascination of watching her carefully apply her make up and doing her hair. She was always so well groomed and pretty. Also, she didn't worry about us sitting around reading True Romance magazines! Anyway, thanks Louise for all the meals, overnight stays, rides to music and school events, movies, church activities, and all the good things that contribute to not only to your children's lives but the lives of the children around you. Best love, Linda Ron & Dixie Johnson Dear Jerrie and Family, We are sure thinking of you and your family as you say goodbye to your dear little mother. What a remarkable lady she is. I was little sister to all you "big" kids but noticed all the fun things you did. Sending lots of prayers your way to help you adjust to her going. With love, Ron & Dixie Johnson Natalie Jenkins Dear Jerrie and Family, We are thinking of you! I visited with Louise in the hospital recently. She told me you are a great daughter, she has had a great life and that you will all miss her. I know all of this is true. I didn't realize it would come so soon. A great reunion awaits all of you. You are a great family! God bless and comfort you. Love, Alan and Natalie Jenkins
