Mary Elaine Siekman, 82, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, was called home to be reunited with her beloved friends and family on February 2, 2025. She had been receiving loving care from many compassionate people at Turtle and Crane Assisted Living Facility for over three years, and from a gracious personal care assistant in her daughter and son-in-law’s home before she moved to Turtle and Crane.
Mary was born November 22, 1942, in Louisville, Nebraska, to Lloyd Edward Heil and Mona Jean Masters Heil. She grew up in Louisville and graduated from Louisville High School in 1960 after having been part of the Pep Club, Girls’ Glee Club, Lions Tails Staff, the Journalism Club, and the Senior Class Play Production Club. She also worked at Blake’s Pharmacy in Louisville. Mary then went to business school in Omaha, Nebraska, and worked as a key punch operator before getting married.
She married the love of her life, LTC (Ret.) Raymond D. Siekman on August 25, 1961. While in the military, Mary and Denny had three children, and lived in Fort Bliss, TX, Olathe, KS, Fort Rucker, AL, Bad Kreuznach, Germany, Fort Huachuca, AZ, Waverly, NE, Fort Knox, KY, Fort Hood, TX, Fort Leavenworth, KS, Denver, CO, Fort Monroe, VA, and Lincoln, NE. They had a small plane that Mary loved to fly in with Denny. Upon retirement in 1981, the Siekman family settled back home outside of Lincoln, Nebraska. Mary then worked for the State of Nebraska for almost 20 years. She enjoyed having a herd of beautiful Arabian horses, and many cats and dogs on the farm. Although Mary and Denny divorced in 2001 after 40 years of marriage, they maintained their love and concern for each other throughout their lives.
Mary is survived by her ex-husband, LTC (Ret.) Raymond D. Siekman of Lincoln, NE; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Susie Siekman; daughter, Ann Renfro of Lincoln, NE; daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Mark Cox of Abiquiu, NM; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Heil, and her parents, Lloyd and Mona Jean Heil.
