Mary Adeline Stringer Hansen, 84, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away December 5, 2013, at the home of her daughter in Clarkston, Washington, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Mary was born October 14, 1929 in Douglas, Arizona, to Hannah Noreen Nelson Pointer. Her father, James Pointer, died before she was born. She was adopted by her step-father, Benjamin Harrison Stringer, when she was one year old. The family eventually moved to El Dorado, Arkansas, where she lived until the age of 17, when she moved to Idaho with her aunt.
While living in Idaho she met and married Leonard Alvin Hansen and together they raised six children. They farmed and raised livestock in Idaho Falls area and she worked for Bonneville School District in the lunch room nutrition program. When her husband retired from farming, they moved to Lewiston, Idaho, where she managed a motel for six years until his death in 1992. She then moved back to the Idaho Falls area, where she lived until her health required her to live with family.
Mary was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved working in the temple.

Howard L (Denise) Hansen of Morgan UT,
Laura J (Dale) Thornock of Tooele, UT and
Mark L (Lauri) Hansen of Layton, UT;
two sisters, Lydia Davis and Hannah Aycock;
two brothers, Lee and Price Stringer;
15 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; a son, Johnny Hansen; a sister, Josephine Rose; two brothers, Joseph and Charles Stringer; and a grandson, Clinton Griffin.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 16, 2013, at the Idaho Falls LDS 11th Ward, 1235 Juniper Drive. The family will visit with friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Sunday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge, and from 12-12:45 p.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
