Mary Grace Vigil Lopez, 79, of Shelley, Idaho, passed away May 10, 2012, at her home. She was under the care of Aspen Home Health & Hospice.
Grace was born November 26, 1932, in Trinidad, Colorado, to Raymond Vigil and Mary Rosalie Garcia Vigil. She grew up in the area and attended Pacheco Elementary School and Trinidad High School. After high school, Grace moved to San Francisco for a brief time and then returned to Trinidad.
She then moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she met Orlando Lopez. They married in Las Vegas, Nevada, May 28 1955. Following his graduation from the University of New Mexico, Orlando got a job with Boeing and they moved to San Diego. They returned to the Albuquerque area in 1958, where they used their strong work ethic and talents to build their first home in Corrales, New Mexico. Grace and Orlando even made the Adobe bricks themselves for the construction. After completing their new home, they lived in it until 1967, when they moved to Idaho, settling in the Woodville area for the last forty-two years.
Grace worked hard at teaching and raising her five children and keeping her home beautiful. Grace and Orlando owned businesses that Grace managed and operated. She enjoyed many other things, including refinishing antiques, gardening, knitting, sewing, crocheting, and painting. She was also an extraordinary cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She was a member of the Roman Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Rudy Vigil; a son-in-law, Roydean Carter; and two grandsons, Christopher R. Dyet and Jeffrey D. Carter.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 9th & Lee, Idaho Falls. A visitation will be held Monday beginning at 7 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge. Burial will be in the Shelley-Hillcrest Cemetery.
