Mary Jo Frandsen

Mary Jo Macy Frandsen passed away into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on Monday, July 25, 2011 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah. Mary Jo was born on December 13, 1923 in Stillwater, Oklahoma, to Joseph William Macy and Maggie Pearl McKnight Macy. She was the eighth child of nine. Mary Jo graduated from high school in Chandler, Oklahoma. She attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where she obtained a Master’s Degree in Psychology. She worked as a counselor with the Idaho State Department of Employment for eleven years. She married Elton Ernest Holmes on May 23, 1941. They were later divorced. Mary Jo married Lloyd Carr Young on February 11, 1960. He preceded her in death in 1969. She married Sherman C. McGarry on December 12, 1970. He preceded her in death in 1982. Mary Jo married Ray Frandsen on June 2, 1984 in Idaho Falls. Ray preceded her in death on May 23, 2009. Mary Jo was a very loving person. She made friends everywhere she went. Education was very important to Mary Jo and she was always trying to learn new things. She enjoyed reading and traveling with Ray in their trailer. In later life, Ray and Mary Jo moved to Fairwinds Retirement Community where they made many wonderful friends. She moved to Orem about nine months ago to reside with her son, Ken, and daughter-in-law Diane, and their family. Family was the most important thing to Mary Jo, and she especially enjoyed holding the new little great grandchildren. Mary Jo is survived by three sons, Larry Holmes (Karen, deceased) of Sedona, Arizona, Nicholas Holmes (Roxanna) of Eugene, Oregon, Ken Holmes (Diane) of Orem, Utah; stepsons, Craig Young (Beth) of Bountiful, Utah, Dee Frandsen (Kathy) of Las Vegas, Nevada; stepdaughters, Kathy Holsapple (Bill) of Denver, Colorado, Jennifer Garn, Diane Suitter (Richard), Connie Schneiter (Norman), all of Idaho Falls, Idaho; 11 grandchildren, 21 step grandchildren, many great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Sue Macy of Norman, Oklahoma. She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands; infant daughter, Patricia Young; daughter-in-law, Karen Holmes; and eight brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Wood Funeral Home East Side Chapel, 963 S. Ammon Rd. The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Iona Cemetery.
