Mary Alice Finlayson

Mary Alice Thebo Finlayson, 93, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully at her home June 8, 2016. She was under the care of her family & Hospice of Eastern Idaho.

Mary Alice was born August 11, 1922, in Paris, Texas, to George S. Thebo and Cynthia Alice Thebo. She grew up and attended schools in Paris and graduated from Paris High School. After high school, she attended and earned a degree from Stephens College in Columbia, Mo.

Mary Alice met Frank E. "Finny" Finlayson while he was attending Officers Candidate School in Texas and they were married April 24, 1943.

After the war, they moved to Idaho Falls, where they raised three children, surrounded themselves with good friends, and enjoyed a successful life together. Mary Alice was a wife, mother and homemaker and was supportive of all.

Mary Alice attended Holy Rosary Catholic Church and later, Christ the King Catholic Church, until her passing. She enjoyed her family, friends and especially her years in Island Park during the summers.

Mary Alice is survived by her children, Frank (Janet) Finlayson Jr. of Merrimac, Ma; Cynthia (Keith) Branter of Idaho Falls; and Fred (Bobbi) Finlayson of Idaho Falls; 10 grandchildren & 13 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Finny, her parents, George & Alice Thebo, and many close and wonderful friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2016, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Monday at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.woodfuneralhome.com.
