Mary Jane Monson Farnsworth, 84, of Ucon, Idaho passed away April 10, 2017 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center due to complications following a stroke.

Mary Jane was born January 7, 1933, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Andrew N. Monson and Angelina Tracy Monson. She grew up and attended schools in Ucon, Idaho. She graduated from Ucon High School and then attended Idaho Falls Business College.

On August 1, 1952, she married Edward Darrell Farnsworth in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. To this union were born seven children, Sue, Peggy, Cindy, Douglas, Brian, Janeal and Craig. Mary Jane and Darrell made their home in Ucon, Idaho.

Mary Jane was a homemaker. She also worked as a secretary for an insurance company, as a paraprofessional at Ucon Elementary School and as a custodian for the LDS church. She served as secretary to the Ucon Water Users Association for many years. She was a professional cake designer and made many beautiful cakes, including wedding cakes for her children and grandchildren.

She was a superior cook, often sharing dinner rolls and cinnamon rolls with family and friends or to those in need of comfort. Her homemade dinners were delicious. When her husband was alive, they grew a huge garden and spent many hours canning and preserving the produce. Mary Jane was especially talented in embroidery and was an excellent seamstress. She made most of her children's clothing when they were young.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many capacities including Primary teacher, visiting teacher and as a counselor in the Young Women, Relief Society and Primary organizations. She also served as Relief Society President and as an advisor in Relief Society in the 3rd Stake on the BYU-Idaho campus, before being called to serve a three year mission at the LDS Cannery in Idaho Falls.

Mary Jane is survived by her seven children: Sue (Douglas) Wheeler of Idaho Falls, ID; Peggy (Gary) Rogers of Rexburg, ID; Cindy (Leslee) Andrus of Rexburg, ID; Douglas (Lori) Farnsworth of Rigby, ID; Brian (Tammy) Farnsworth of Rigby, ID; Janeal (Daniel) Biggs of Ucon, ID; Craig (Niki) Farnsworth of Pittsburg, KS; two sisters, Darlene Coles and LaDawn Battleson; two brothers, David Monson and Gary Monson; 36 grandchildren and 70 great grandchildren, with one due in May.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three sisters Faye Ann, Afton, and Rose Marie, a son-in-law, Leslee Andrus, two grandsons, James Andrus, Kevin Rogers, a granddaughter, Rebecca Rogers, and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2017, at the Ucon LDS Monument Ward, 10854 North 41 East, with Bishop Justin Pugmire officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:00–8:00 p.m. Sunday, April 16, 2017, and Monday from 10:00–10:45 a.m., both times at the church. Burial will be in the Ucon Cemetery.
