MARY EDSON IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Mary Kathryn Edson, 76, of Idaho Falls, fell asleep November 22, 2006. She was born July 24, 1930, in Motpelier, Idaho, to Harry and Norma McDonald Gaskins. She started her schooling in Montpelier. SHe finished her schooling, graduating from high school in Laramie, Wyoming. She married Charles Hamilton in 1948, and raised her three children, Susan (Howard) Skidmore, Martha (Mark) Russell, and Robert Hamilton, in Riverton, Wyoming. In December 1971, she married Murray Harry Edson and they adventured across the U.S., living in Texas, New Jersey, and Baja, Mexico. In 2005, she moved to Idaho Falls to be near her family. Mary worked as a legal secretary and as an editor for the National Review. A true individual, her passions were Bridge (she was a Life Master), politics, and computers. She was an officer in the Theater Guild, and active in the Red Cross in Baja. It was only a matter of time before she was organizing and leading any group she was involved in. Throughout her life, she ran a boarding house for every size, shape and breed of dogs, from Chihuahuas to Great Danes. Every dog in the vicinity knew her door was always open. Survivors include her three children, and grandchildren, Kelly (Jason) Johnson, Lindsay, Sam and Henry, her great granddaughter, Jannabelle Johnson, and her sister, Linda Gaskins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Murray, and a brother, Charles Gaskins. Her generosity and courage inspired all of us. She will forever be in our hearts. The family will meet with friends at the Villa Coffee House, 344 Park Avenue, on Monday, November 27, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
