Click Here To View Memorial Video Mary Veronica Douglass, 90, of Idaho Falls, passed away June 16, 2013, at Pinebrook Assisted Living Center in Idaho Falls of natural causes. Mary was born December 18, 1922, in London, England. The family immigrated to America in 1928 and she grew up and attended schools in Detroit, Michigan. She earned her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse through Parkview Hospital, then continued her education at Ricks College in Rexburg while working full-time, and earned her bachelor’s degree. She moved to Idaho Falls 40 years ago. Mary worked as a Registered Nurse in the Preemie Nursery and in OB/GYN at LDS Hospital, then in Utilization, Recruiting, and on the 5th Floor at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center until her retirement. She also served on the Code Blue Team during her entire time working. Always busy and hard working, Mary retired at age 75, which she later said was much too soon. She was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. She served as President of the Republican Women’s Club while living in northern California, campaigning for Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan. An avid reader, Mary loved her pets and sewing. She adored her grandkids, but nursing was her passion. Mary is survived by Son, R. Dennis (Mary) Ringer of Santa Barbara, CA; Daughter, Laura-Leigh Piper of Idaho Falls, ID, Daughter, Annette Haines of Idaho Falls, ID; 4 Grandchildren: Michael (Rechelle) Ringer of Santa Barbara, CA; Heather (Randy) Glenn of Burbank, CA; Reid (LeAnn) Haines of Twin Falls, ID; and Erin Haines of The Dalles, OR; 7 Great Grandchildren: Kiernan Ringer, Tiana Ringer, Kerigan Ringer, Breaden Ringer, Matthew Glenn, Kaitlyn Glenn, and Roper Haines She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and six sisters. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2013, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge. The family would like to extend an invitation to her friends and family to a Celebration of Life in honor of their mother from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013 at her daughter’s home, 501 Falls Drive, Idaho Falls, Idaho.
