Mary Kathleen (Burke) Krueger

Mary Kathleen (Burke) Krueger, 67, of Swan Valley, passed away June 23, 2024, at her home in Swan Valley, Idaho.

Mary was born September 16, 1956, in Santa Maria, California, to Jack and Helen Burke. She grew up in a family with her five siblings in Anaheim, California. Her siblings and parents meant the world to her and she loved her family very much. Mary left California shortly after high school and spent time in Durango, Colorado, and Salt Lake City, Utah. Her heart belonged in the west with the mountains. On January 30, 1988, she married Larry Krueger in Carson City, Nevada. She resided in Gardnerville, Nevada, with her husband, where they had their daughter, Caitlin Kerry. In 2002, they moved to Swan Valley, Idaho.

Swan Valley was her place of peace, she loved the valley and community members and enjoyed her busy schedule of pool, bunco and shuffleboard. She brought joy and hope to every person she met and loved volunteering her time in the valley. Her light shined bright, and every person she met knew how special she was. One of her biggest joys was volunteering every summer at Camp Magical Moments, a cancer camp for kids. She spent over 15 years volunteering at camp, and she cherished each camper she met every year. Her biggest pride and joy was her daughter, Caitlin and her favorite (and only) son-in law, DJ. Her second favorite was her dog Lucy and the two of them enjoyed every sunset and sunrise over Mt Baldy in Swan Valley. She never took any day for granted, and lived her life to the fullest. Her loss is felt by many but her joy and hope continues to shine on through every person who knew her. We were so lucky to have her in our lives.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Caitlin (Dwight) Long of Idaho Falls, ID; stepson, Garrett (Katie) Krueger of Carson City, NV; and 2 grandchildren; and one grandpup, Penny Lane Long. She is also survived by her brothers, Tom Burke, Casey Burke and Kevin Burke; a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Krueger; father, Jack Burke; mother, Helen Palmer Burke; and two sisters, Kerry Burke, and Claudia Engel.

Services will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2024, at the Chapel in the Valley in Swan Valley, Idaho. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11-11:45 a.m. prior at the church. Graveside services will follow after with a lunch at the church following the burial.
