Marvine Herrera

Marvine  Herrera, 96, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on May 18, 2021, under the care of Brio Hospice.

Marvine was born April 28, 1925, in Bloomington, Idaho, to Lorenzo Charles Lewis and Pearl Laverna Quinton Lewis.  She grew up and attended schools in Bloomington, and graduated as valedictorian from Fielding High School in Paris, Idaho.

On November 15, 1947, she married Roy Herrera. Marvine and Roy had three children, Kristine Hollingsworth, Janis Mason, and Steven Herrera.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She loved shopping, and was a wonderful homemaker who loved taking care of her family. During WWII, she worked at the naval gun plant in Pocatello. She also worked as a telephone operator and for the rail road transcribing morse code.

Marvine is survived by her loving daughter, Kristine (Dirk) Hollingsworth of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Steve (Antonia) Herrera of Nipomo, CA; a sister, Verda (Bob) Longhurst of Idaho Falls, ID; 6 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roy; parents; sisters, Leona, Delilah, Laree, Lorae, and Elaine; brothers, Harold and Melford; and daughter, Janis Mason.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 28, 2021 at Wood Funeral Home (273 N Ridge). The family will visit with friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
