Marvin Glen Pitman, 78, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 10, 2025, at his home.
Marvin was born September 20, 1946, in Rigby, Idaho, to William Glen Pitman and Virginia Mae Young Pitman. He grew up and attended schools in Rigby and graduated from Rigby High School.
On November 25, 1966, he married Terry E. L. Gialy in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Marvin and Terry made their home in Idaho Falls where Marvin worked as the general manager for the Intermountain Gas Company.
He was a member of the VFW and the Eagles Club. He was a horse jockey at Sandy Downs Race Track. He loved camping, hunting, fishing, spending time with his grandkids and the dogs, gardening, and watching the water. Marvin was given funny nicknames throughout his life, including Porkchop in high school and Squirrel during his service in the Vietnam War.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Terry Pitman of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Cary (Teresa) Pitman of Boise, ID; daughter, Dena (Brent) Harris of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Corey (Julia) Pitman of Conway, AR; brother, Brent Pitman; sister, Diona (Richard) Johnson of Ucon, ID; grandchildren, Kylee, Marissa, Jaden, Dakota, and Ella; and great grandchildren, Braeker and Raeya.
He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, William “Bill” Gialy.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends Friday evening from 6:30-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services, both visitations at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
