Marvin Lester Freemyer, 78, of Reno, Nevada, passed away December 13, 2025, at his daughter’s home in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Marvin was born July 13, 1947, in Maryville, Missouri, to Elmer Franklin Freemyer and Verna Kathryn Hunter Freemyer. He grew up in Loveland, Colorado, and graduated from Loveland High School in 1965. In 1967 he joined the Army and served two tours in Vietnam as a flight engineer for CH-47 Chinook Helicopters.
On March 14, 1970, he married Julie C. Lively in Fort Collins, Colorado. Marvin and Julie made their home in Reno, Nevada, for the past 43 years. Marvin worked as a truck driver for the past 50 years.
He was a member of Elks Lodge BPOE #597, he was a life member of the VFW Post 9211, and a member of the NRA. He enjoyed traveling in his motor home, restoring old cars, and was a model train enthusiast.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Julie C. Freemyer of Reno, NV; daughter, Melissa (Joshua) Geary of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Jacob (Monnik) Freemyer of Reno, NV; brother, Larry Freemyer of Briggsdale, CO; sister, Marsha (Elven) Marshall of Marion, KS; 3 grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Franklin Freemyer, and his mother, Verna Kathryn Freemyer.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, located at 2700 N. Virginia Street, Reno, NV 89507. A celebration of life will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Reno Rock, 3800 N. Virginia, Reno, NV 89506.
