MARVA A. McGARRY
IDAHO FALLS, ID - Marva Ann Thomas McGarry, 75, of Idaho
Falls, died August 28, 2003, at the home of her daughter in Osgood.
She was born May 10, 1928, at the family home in Dubois
to Benjamin “Hop” Thomas and Annie “Toot” Laird
Thomas. She grew up in Dubois and attended Clark County Schools. Upon graduation
from high school she attended Utah State University in Logan and Idaho State
University in Pocatello.
On June 23, 1948, she married Jack Jones McGarry in Dubois.
They were involved in various ranching operations throughout their married
life around the Dubois area, California and at the Railroad Ranch in Island
Park. Since 1977, they have made their home on the family ranch at Medicine
Lodge.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints and was involved in many community organizations including the Clark
County Fair Board, Planning and Zoning Committee, Republican Central Committee,
and FHA Advisory Board. Her hobbies were gardening, reading and spoiling
her grandchildren; Josh Walbom, Jenni (Brett) Hulet, Madeline McGarry, Samuel
McGarry, Savannah McGarry, Abigail McGarry and Anna Martin
Surviving are:
Husband: Jack Jones McGarry, Medicine Lodge, ID
Daughter: Jacqui (Jeff) Walbom, Osgood, ID
Son: Pat (Michelle) McGarry, Medicine Lodge, ID
Daughter: Jo (Brad) Martin , Lewiston, ID
Sister: Bonnie Burns, Dubois, ID
7 Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Dean Thomas.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September
3, 2003, at the Dubois LDS Beaver Creek Ward, with Bishop Brion Egan officiating.
The family will visit with friends from 12:30 p.m. until
time of service at the church.
Burial will be in the Dubois Cemetery under the direction
of Wood Funeral Home.
