Martell “Marty” Lewis Miller, 67, of Idaho Falls, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018, at his home, and was in the company of his wife and two sons.
While in college, Marty met and married, Michelle Davidson of Idaho Falls, Idaho. From that union were born two beautiful sons, Ian and Tyler. Michelle and Marty later divorced.
Marty was born on November 5, 1950, in Idaho Falls to Inez Mae Hackman Miller and Vernon LeRoy Miller. As a young boy Marty led an exciting life, spending his early years living in Greece and Germany with his parents, older sister, and younger brother, when his father was working for the State Department.
After returning to Idaho Falls, Marty graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1968. That year after graduation, he moved to Boise, and attended Boise State University, graduating with a BA in Accounting in 1972. As an undergraduate at Boise State, he was active in student government and leadership, becoming the Student Body Vice President his senior year. Upon graduating from BSU, Marty accepted a position with the former Governor of Idaho, Cecil Andrus, as the Assistant to the Director of Administrative Services.
Throughout his life, Marty had many different careers, from starting an insurance company in Idaho Falls, to working in the semi-conductor industry in Silicon Valley. Most recently, Marty found a renewed faith and passion in supporting the church staff at St John Lutheran Church as his health allowed.
On December 1, 2012, Marty married his best friend and life partner, Beverly McConnell at St John’s Lutheran Church where he was a member.
He is survived by his wife Beverly Miller; sons, Ian (Amy) Miller of Aurora, Colorado, Tyler (Jessica) Miller of Dallas, Texas; sister Laura Mozzer of Idaho Falls; brothers Gerald (Tracey) Miller of Houston, Texas, and Scott (Lori) Miller of Boise; four grandchildren; and three step children.
Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Sheila Jones.
