Mart Madsen

James Martinues “Mart” Madsen, 98, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2014, at Good Samaritan Society Idaho Falls Village, while recovering from a fall at home. Mart was born August 22, 1916, at Presto Bench, Bingham County, Idaho, to Enoch Martinues Madsen and Eliza Heward Madsen. He grew up on a farm with his 10 brothers and sisters, where he learned the value of good work. He attended school in Upper Presto. Mart married Wilma Ada Miles November 23, 1937, in the Logan LDS Temple. They have been married 77 years. They had one child, Sandra Madsen Borg. Mart retired from US Bank, where he was their building maintenance person. He loved fixing the machines and making sure the building looked nice. Dad loved the Boy Scouts and was a scoutmaster for many years. He received his Eagle Scout award as an adult. The highlight of his Boy Scout career was being able to attend the National Boy Scout Jamboree in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. He encouraged his grandsons and great grandsons to get their Eagle Scout award and so far all that are of age have gotten this award. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various positions including the Spanish Extraction Program. His hobbies were camping and enjoying time spent with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Wilma; his daughter, Sandra (Thomas) Borg of Ammon; and his brother, Heward (Dorothy) Madsen of Goshen, Idaho. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Mart (Dennis) Borg of McCammon, Idaho; Michael (Julie) Borg of Boise, Idaho; Matthew (Domenique) Borg of Ammon, Idaho; Rebecca (Brian, deceased) Crow of Idaho Falls, Idaho; six great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter, a fifth generation to Mart. The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Society for their loving care. They would also like to thank Encompass Home Health, especially Rita and Heidi and Hospice of Eastern Idaho, especially Dawn and Cheryl, for their excellent care of not only Dad but also Mom. Thanks also to their neighbors who have been so kind and helpful. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2014, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road.
