Biography

Marriner Ray Jensen, 92, of Idaho Falls, formerly of Montpelier, passed away April 6, 2011 at his home. He was under the care of his family, assisted by One Source Home Health and Hospice. Marriner was born April 26, 1918 in Moore, Idaho to Emil Ray Jensen and Selma Anderson Jensen. He grew up and attended schools in Young Ward, Utah. On March 21, 1946, he married his sweetheart Eileen in the LDS Logan Temple. Together they raised nine children. Marriner worked as a cattle rancher and as a Sierra Life Insurance Agent. He owned and operated Bear River Outfitters, as well as Jensen Brothers Hereford Ranch. He served on the Bear Lake County School Board, the Bear Lake County Fair Board, as a Boy Scouts of America Commissioner, a Sierra Life President’s Club member, a member of the Lions Club, a 4-H Leader, and was a committeeman and later the Chairman of the Bear Lake County Republican Party. Marriner was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including a full-time missionary in the North Central States Mission, as a stake missionary, a branch president, a ward mission leader, president of the Sunday School, and as a bishop. Later in life, he served with Eileen as a full-time missionary and as a branch president in Hagensborg, British Columbia, Canada. His interests and hobbies include raising champion steers, trapping, hunting, fishing, fly-tying, traveling, flying, gardening, archery, and following the stock market. He loved his country and was proud to be an American. Survivors include his wife, Eileen Jensen; daughter, Vicki (Bernard) Sparks; son, Sid (Joyce) Jensen; daughter, Mary Jo (Arnell) Snyder; daughter RoZan Coleman; son, Barth Jensen; daughter, Patrice McCutcheon; son, Clyde (Rachel) Jensen; daughter, Lorie (David) Montierth; John (Diane) Jensen; 35 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; brothers Gail (Louise) Jensen and W. Neil (Elara) Jensen, and sisters E. Hope (James)Larsen and Myril (Tom Tauscher) Hobson. Marriner was preceded in death by his parents; brother Van (Dorthea) Jensen; and sister Doris (Ivan) Willmore.

Funeral Services -- Saturday

Saturday April 16, 2011 , 1:00 p.m. at Dingle LDS Church

The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at Wood Funeral Home (273 North Ridge Avenue) and on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the church prior to services. Burial will be in Dingle Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
