Our loving mother, Marolyn McCormick, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2022, in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Marolyn was born in Arco, Idaho, on February 2, 1935, to Maureen and Floyd Peterson, attended elementary school in Terreton, Idaho, and graduated from Roberts High School in 1953. She also attended Ricks College for a small amount of time.
She married Clyde William McCormick on November 2, 1953. They were blessed with eight children, and she helped raise many others throughout her life. She worked many different jobs, including the smelter in Anaconda, Montana, later owning multiple cafés, all while running the family farm. In 1982, she began working for Trevor and Ellie Povah as their “Chief Officer of Operations” until her retirement.
Marolyn is survived by her children, Floyd McCormick, Melanie (Roger) Schmitt, Breck McCormick, Lisa (Dave) Ward, Lanie (Ryan) Berrett, Colleen (Robert) Daniel, Sam “the baby” (Tim) Humphries; 35 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her youngest son, Michael McCormick; and grandson, Dylan Schmitt.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 395 2nd Street, Idaho Falls, ID 83401. The family will meet with guests from 12:30 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. prior to services at the church. A luncheon will follow.
To honor Marolyn, the family has established the “Marolyn McCormick Scholarship” for Idaho Schools of the blind. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at any Wells Fargo Branch under the name above.
