Marley Joy Braithwaite-Torres, 14, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 19, 2023, in an automobile accident.
Marley was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, on October 12, 2008, to Kimberly Braithwaite. Kim shared an unbreakable bond with Marley, whose smile and laugh brightened each day as they baked, had shopping adventures, and navigated life side-by-side. At the age of one, Marley found her soul-mate and father, Bryan Braithwaite. As time passed, she and Bryan also formed the unbreakable bond. Together, they spent countless hours hiking, hunting, and white water rafting. Marley had a spirit so bright and full of joy that it can only be described as her favorite word, “fantastical.” She was a friend to all, and will be forever remembered for her beautiful and precious heart, her selflessness, and her kindness. Her sense of humor and goofy antics brought smiles to everyone’s faces. Her dedication to keeping everyone’s company throughout their days earned her the beloved nickname by Granny, “Butt-Magnet.” Before you knew you needed her, she was by your side.
Marley was an incredible sister to Makyle, Sydney, and Merilee. She and her older sister, Sydney, held a special bond as best friends who were always there for each other. They had late night texts about everything under the sun including sniffles. It made them feel so close even if they were in different places. She loved to read to her younger sister, Merilee, playing games together, jumping on the trampoline, and coloring made them so close. She loved fishing and duck hunting with her older brother, Makyle. Marley looked up to him so much for being a baseball star and wanted to follow his lead. Wise beyond her years, Marley was the anchor of love and joy for her family and friends. She attended every family event and took every opportunity to support and celebrate her siblings.
Marley was like a sister to her beloved cousins, Jordan, Taylor, Morgan, Brynn, Colby, Jaylee, Rudy, Ava, Mae, George, Savanna, Ryan, and Brooklynn, who spent countless hours together. Marley’s favorite time away from home was with her Granny. At the Raymond family Christmas Olympics, Marley was the most fair, yet tenacious competitor, quietly carrying her team to victory.
Marley attended Westside Elementary and seventh grade at Eagle Rock Middle School. Then she attended the Virtual D91 Academy, where she excelled and tested in the top of the state. Marley was a natural athlete and played softball for the Skyline Lady Grizz team. She was often called in to “speed up” the game, stealing bases even faster than she stole our hearts. She genuinely loved her teammates, and they loved her too.
Marley was a small person, but she filled the room with her presence. Her generous spirit will continue to live on as she is giving the gift of life to others through organ donation.
Marley would want us all to show love each and every day, be with our family and friends, and enjoy a Morgan Wallen concert for her.
Marley is survived by her parents, Kim and Bryan Braithwaite; siblings, Makyle Torres, Sydney Torres, and Merilee Braithwaite; grandparents, Roger and Christy Raymond, Kathy Wade, John Devin and Carrie Braithwaite, and Vicki Tracy.
Marley was preceded in death by Johnna Braithwaite, Doug and Joann Raymond, and Pat and Nancy Wade.
