Elmer Mark Williams passed away July 18, 2024, at the Boise VA Medical Center.
Mark was born June 28, 1927, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Elmer H. Williams and Verda Hannah Ball Williams. He was the third of six children, including three brothers and two sisters, all who preceded him in death. He enjoyed growing up on a farm in Shelton. He moved to Idaho Falls in 1936.
When Mark was twelve he began working. He worked selling magazines door to door, delivering newspapers for the Post Register, then delivering milk for St. Clair Dairy. At fourteen, he began working at Hoffman Market where he worked until entering the military.
Mark graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1945. He took an auto mechanics class in order to keep his 1929 Model A Ford running.
He entered active duty, June 26, 1945, with the U.S. Navy and was discharged on August 12, 1946.
He married his sweetheart, Donna Nelson, on June 25, 1947, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They had two children, Linda and Kent. They were later divorced.
Mark was on the Bonneville County Mounted Posse until moving to Pocatello, where he helped form the Bannock County Mounted Posse in 1955, serving as their president.
Mark worked in sales, beginning with Idaho Creameries, and ending with Wyoming Concrete Pipe.
While living in Wyoming, he met and married Rose Nelson. They were later divorced. He maintained a relationship with her family members up until his death.
Mark moved to Boise to live with his daughter and son-in-law. He resided there until he died.
Mark is survived by his daughter, Linda Williams-Dennis of Boise, ID; grandchildren, Tricia Andersen, Traci Peterson, Ryan Hall, and Josh Williams; 15 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Donald, Wanda, Max, Rex, and June; son, Kent Williams; son-in-law, Ted Dennis; grandson, Justin Riggott; and great-granddaughter, Alissa Peterson.
Family was everything to Mark. He kept in contact with close and extended family. He was a wonderful Father, Grandfather, and Uncle to many. His family was his pride and joy as he was ours.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July, 22, 2024, at the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery, 12463 East 129 North, Rigby, ID 83442. The family will visit with friends from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road prior to the graveside service.
