Mark Whitney Keith La Count

Mark Whitney Keith La Count, 67, passed away peacefully at his home in Idaho Falls on January 21, 2025.

Mark was born on August 5, 1957, to Louise Winter La Count and Sherwood Keith La Count in Norway, Maine. He spent his childhood in Los Angeles, California, and graduated from Beverly Hills High School. Following his time at Brigham Young University (BYU), he embarked on a career as an entrepreneur.

On July 4, 1986, Mark was married and sealed to his wife, Tami Monson La Count, in the Zollikofen Temple in Switzerland. They lived in Switzerland for seven years, and in their fourth year there, they welcomed their son, Etienne. The family later returned to the United States, settling first in Bedford, New Hampshire, then moving to Atlanta, Georgia, where they welcomed their daughter, Nicole. Eventually, they moved back to Switzerland for a few years so Mark could continue working on his Swiss company. Afterwards, they relocated to Park City, Utah, where Mark made his company public. The family made Park City their home for 14 years while their children received their education, and in 2014, Mark and Tami moved to Idaho Falls to be closer to her family. Mark devoted his life to serving others, transitioning his business endeavors from for-profit to nonprofit efforts. He had a profound love for music, playing the piano and organ from an early age, and he also showed his care for others through his exceptional cooking skills. Mark owned and operated restaurants in his early years and continued to share his culinary talents throughout his life.

A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mark served a two-year mission in Sydney, Australia. He subsequently served as a Branch Second Counselor in Switzerland, in the Elder’s Quorum, and as an organist. Teaching the gospel in various wards brought him immense joy. He cherished his relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Enhabit Hospice for the compassionate care they provided to Mark.

Mark is survived by his loving wife, Tami La Count; his son, Etienne La Count; his daughter, Nicole Dormitzer, and son-in-law, Jeremy Dormitzer, along with their two-year-old son, Mark’s cherished grandson. Each of them brought immeasurable joy to his life. Mark’s legacy of faith and service will continue to inspire his family and all who knew him.
