Mark James Hanna, passed away on September 11, 2026. His dry humor, intelligence, and laughter, will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Mark loved photography, music, and cars. Did I mention cars and anything that pertained to cars? If you could talk cars, you were a friend of Mark’s. From the time he was in high school he started tinkering on cars, his first of which was a 1950 Ford Pickup that he painted red and white, put in a tape deck with speakers mounted in the back, and a claw on the stick shift. He later became an avid collector of Porsche cars which led to his involvement with the National Porsche Club. He raced them, worked on them, collected them, restored them, drove them, and even collected models of Porsche cars.
His happy place when he wasn’t working on his cars, was at his cabin. Of course he had to be working on something, so a Porsche at the cabin and a boat kept him busy.
Mark was born in Long Beach California in 1955, but grew up in Billings, Montana, attending Billings West High School until his Junior year. He then attended Jordan High School in Utah. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah, and his Masters in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
He is survived by his sisters: Jacque Pace-Fivas (Paul), Julia Jensen (Corey), and Jennifer Hanna (Marty).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr James C. Hanna (Pat), and Joan Hanna.
There will be a small celebration of life at a family member’s home on October 9, 2026, from 6-8. If you are interested in more details, please contact Jacque Fivas at jacquefivas@yahoo.com.
