Marjorie Powell

MARJORIE B. POWELL IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Marjorie Bybee Sundberg Powell, age 84, passed away peacefully, July 31, 2007, in Idaho Falls. Born April 2, 1923, she was the only child of Leslie Bowman Bybee and Annie Elva Westergard Bybee. She lived most of her life in Idaho Falls where she enjoyed many happy times with her Westergard aunts, uncles and cousins. December 21, 1945, Marjorie married Jack C. Sundberg, her childhood sweetheart and they had three children, Leslie Anne, Jack Stuart and Shelly Marie. Their marriage was later solemnized in the LDS Temple. Marjorie helped Jack with the pharmacies they owned until his death in 1970. Later she worked for the Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce and First Federal Savings and Loan. July 3, 1974, she married Wayne V. Powell and became a step-mother to his children, Larry, Charlene and Michael. Wayne worked for Bonneville Blueprint until last year when he retired to take care of Marjorie. Marjorie received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Utah in 1945 and was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Although she was never employed in her chosen field of study, clothing and textiles, she applied her skills well; always fashionably dressed and perfectly coordinated. She enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends and was an avid sports enthusiast. Whenever possible, she attended her grandsons' hockey and soccer games. She loved to play golf and served as president of the Idaho Falls Women's Golf Association in 1955. She and her friends logged many happy miles together on the Grand Targhee ski bus and slopes. She is survived by her husband, Wayne, her three children, Leslie Anne Lords (Lee), Jack Stuart Sundberg, Shelly Marie Ogami (Roger), her four grandchildren, Jackie Feldman Maher (John), Ryan Sundberg, Nicholas and Brock Ogami, and three great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 3, 2006 at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue, with Tom Albaugh officiating.
