Marion Lois Arpin, 86, of Ammon, passed away Monday, July 18, 2011 at Parkwood Meadows Assisted Living Community.
Marion was born December 26, 1924 in East Providence, Rhode Island, to Michael Joseph Vardner and Margaret Belcher Vardner. She was one of eight children. Marion attended school in East Providence.
She worked as a tacker (welder) at the Keizer Shipyard in Rhode Island, building “Liberty Ships” during war time, where she met her future husband Earl, who was also a welder. She married Earl H. Arpin on June 24, 1946 in Providence, Rhode Island. In 1964 the family moved from Old Lyme, Connecticut to Idaho Falls. Marion was a homemaker who raised six children.
She was a member of the Catholic faith.
Marion is survived by her children Sandra Arpin of Boise, Earl (June) Arpin Jr. of Boise, Al (Teresa) Arpin of Pocatello, Michael (Vickie) Arpin of Idaho Falls, and Deborah Arpin of Spokane, Washington; and one sister, Barbara Kent of Maine; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchidren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; son, Thomas, her parents, three brothers and three sisters.
The family would like to thank all her care givers over the past two years at Parkwood Meadows Assisted Living Community, Creekside Hospice, and Good Samaritan, Idaho Falls Village.
Private family services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Rd.
