Marilyn Raie (Rogers) Thoren

Marilyn Raie Thoren, 88, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 20, 2024, at Parkwood Meadows Assisted Living Community. She was under the care of Symbii Home Health and Hospice and her loving family.

Marilyn was born April 2, 1936, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Alvin Forest Rogers and Delores Helen Laird Rogers. She grew up and attended schools in Des Moines.

On September 10, 1955, she married Richard “Dick” Loren Thoren in Des Moines, Iowa, where they lived for three years. They then moved to Waterloo, Iowa, for five years, next on to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, for four years, and finally moving to Idaho Falls, where they would remain.

She received Jesus as her Savior and was baptized in 1985. She enjoyed car shows, camping, cooking, sewing, crafts, and traveling with Dad all over the United States. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family, kids, and grandkids.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Michelle DeShon of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Alvin Duane Rogers of Pensacola, FL; 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Deloris Rogers; husband, Richard L. Thoren; sister, Winona Thompson; brother, James Rogers; sister, Louise Fetters; brother, Robert “Bob” Rogers; and son, William Michael “Bill” Thoren.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Watersprings Church.
