Marilyn Burrup Edgley, 65, of Ammon, passed away June 3, 2024, at her home.
Marilyn was born December 30, 1958, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Weldon E. Burrup and Joyce Lorraine Jeppson. She grew up and attended schools in Pocatello and graduated from Pocatello High School.
On October 21, 1977, she married Howard Craig Edgley in Pocatello, Idaho, and later their marriage was sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. Marilyn and Craig made their home in Pocatello, Idaho, and later moved to Ammon. Marilyn worked many jobs from carhop at A&W to secretary for Coca Cola Bottling and Standard Plumbing Supply among a few. She always worked hard to help support her family who she loved dearly.
Marilyn was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many teaching and service positions. Marilyn enjoyed her family first and foremost. She loved Yellowstone National Park, camping, and anything outdoors. She loved going to baseball games with her friends and family. She loved to dance until she lost her legs. Marilyn excelled in any crafting project she attempted, especially counted cross stitch in which she was a master until she lost the use of her hands. Marilyn was an expert in crochet as well. She made beautiful afghans, many of which she completed despite the loss of several of her fingers. Marilyn adapted to her ever-changing life and always had a smile, a loving comment or sage advice. She expressed her love openly to her family and friends. Her love, her art, and her example will live on for generations to come.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Howard Craig Edgley of Ammon, ID; daughter, Kristina Edgley of Pocatello, ID; son, Lee (Christina) Edgley of Kuna, ID; son, Brandon (Savanah) Edgley of Anchorage, AK; brother, Dave (Kathy) Burrup of Aberdeen, ID; sister, Diane O’Donnell of Hillsboro, OR; brother, Bruce (Patti) Burrup of Fruitland, ID; brother, Cory (Calli) Burrup of Pocatello, ID; 6 grandchildren and one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Weldon and Lorraine Burrup, and her grandparents.
Marilyn asked to be cremated and her ashes spread in Yellowstone. She also requested just a simple gathering for friends and family, and all are welcome. The gathering will be held from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road.
Part of God’s Plan What made us friends in the long ago? When first we met, well I think I know. The best in me and the best in you. Hailed each other because they knew. That always and always since life began. Our being friends was part of God’s plan.
