Marie Davis

On November 15, 2022, Marie Davis went home. For the first time in 64 years, she was able to walk, run, jump, and probably ride her horse, Chance.

Marie was born October 17, 1958, in Ashton, Idaho, to Glenn and Velta Davis. She joined three brothers at their home in Wilford, Idaho. Later, the family was joined by a sister and brother. She was raised on a dairy farm where she was surrounded by all kinds of animals--and we don't mean her brothers! She loved animals, but she hated bugs of all kinds, especially June bugs. In fact, she was afraid of butterflies when she was young!

Marie loved dogs, cats, and especially horses from a young age. Dad would babysit Marie and her sister, Kathy, by putting them on a horse and letting them ride up and down the road. Marie loved music and she played the piano extremely well. She had small hands and couldn't always reach the chords, so she would rewrite the music in her mind. She sang in and played for the high school choir.

She started work at the Forest Service shortly after high school. As part of her work, she learned to make travel arrangements for different employees. Marie loved to travel and for many years she used what she had learned at work to plan trips for her, Kathy, and her mom to different historic places.

Later, she became a handicap accessibility specialist for the Forest Service, and her and mom traveled all over the western United States so that she could talk at seminars. She was in high demand.

Marie was a loving aunt, really a second mother to all of  her nieces and nephews. They all cherished her as much as she loved them.

Marie is preceded in death by her brother, Cole; and her father, Glenn Davis.

She is survived by her mother, Velta (Midge) Davis; siblings, Neal of Sandpoint, ID, Ralph (Brenda) of Wilford, ID, Clifton (Becky) of Idaho Falls, Kathy (Craig) Nelson of Morgon, UT, and Matthew (Debbie) of Ashton, ID; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 21, 2022, at the Wilford 1st Ward, 215 North 2400 East, St. Anthony, Idaho. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in the Wilford Cemetery.
