Marian Sorensen Ellingford, 93, of Idaho Falls, passed away March 30, 2017, at her home.

Marian was born June 22, 1923, in Chapin, Idaho, to Arnold Lewis Sorensen and Ruth Mallard Sorensen. She grew up and attended grammar schools in Darby and graduated from Teton High School. She also attended Idaho State University, Utah State University, and LDS Business College in Salt Lake City. She worked at Fort Douglas in Utah during World War II, and at the Bureau of Reclamation in Boise, Idaho.

In August of 1957, she married Jack Edward Ellingford in Idaho Falls. To this union were born three children, Mandy, Tamara and Rick, to join Marian’s stepsons Brent, Robert, and Lynn. Marian and Jack made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Marian was a homemaker, mother, and worked as an office manager for the family business, Ellingford Excavation.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and family history.

Marian is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Jack Ellingford of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Tamara Ellingford of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Rick Ellingford of Idaho Falls, ID; stepson, Brent Ellingford; stepson, Robert Ellingford; sister, Jerelyn (Don) Decker of Rexburg, ID.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, Mandy Ellingford, a stepson, Lynn Ellingford, and sisters, Constance Mathis and Patricia Billings.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at the Shamrock Park LDS Ward, 3195 South Holmes, with Bishop Todd Stone officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
