Maria Summers

Maria Elisabeth Frey Summers, 83, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 7, 2017, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Maria was born September 2, 1933, in Thalmann, Rohrdorf, West Germany, to Johann Frey and Maria Christl Frey. She grew up and attended schools in West Germany. On July 9, 1955, she married Kenneth Samuel Summers in West Germany. To this union were born three children, Rosemarie, John, and Heidi. Maria and Kenneth made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Maria was as loving wife, mother, and homemaker. Kenneth passed away May 17, 1998. She was a member of the Catholic church. She enjoyed fishing, knitting, crocheting, baking cookies, working on crossword puzzles, and eating licorice. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Maria is survived by her daughter, Rosemarie (Steve) Anderson of Idaho Falls, ID; son, John Summers of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Heidi (Juan) Resendiz of Idaho Falls, ID; 10 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; sister, Hedwig Frey; grandson, Jeremiah John Summers; great-granddaughter, Shelby Rose Anderson; and great-grandson, Taylor Anderson. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2017, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
