"Old age ain’t for sissies."
We celebrate the graduation of Margaret Louise Dierks into the loving arms of sweet Jesus Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Lincoln Court Retirement Center.
Our little princess – a Mother, Grandma, Great Grandma, Great Great Grandmother, Wife, Sister, Auntie, and friend to so many, her life was as full as the blossoms on an apple tree. She had a couple of special dates saved – February 10th and May 20th of this year - to witness the marriage of a granddaughter, Serria, and a great granddaughter, Brandie, but there was a much more important and very special date with our precious Lord to keep.
She often said "old age isn’t for sissies" . . . indeed. And jokingly would say "do you ever wonder about the hereafter?," then said "she would go in a room and wonder what she was here after" and laugh.
Born October 20, 1917, in Phillips, Colorado, to Earl W. Bereman and Elizabeth M. Crater Bereman, she lived clear to February 4, 2017 (noting God’s holy number 7). Her 99 years were filled with memories of good times with family and friends. Travels abound with adventures beside her best friend, dancing partner and husband, Denver. The love for the game of golf took them to a beautiful place in the mountains at Star Valley, Wyoming, building their dream home. There she became President of the Ladies Golf Association, serving the same position at Pinecrest Golf Course, her many trophies in bowling and golf tournaments filling her bookshelves. At the age of 90 she was still going to her Curves workout. Being an avid reader, it was a full-time job keeping her Nook loaded with mysteries and adventure stories. Being a wiz at crossword puzzles, no one dared challenge her. She loved taking time each day to give her kitty "Simba" that special lap time.
On January 29, 1938, she married Denver Henry Dierks in Denver, Colorado. She worked for the Idaho Falls City Clerk’s office as a secretary and then at the law firm of Albaugh, Bloom, Smith & Pike as their legal secretary until retirement. She served as a "Pink Lady" volunteer at the hospital and did volunteer work for the local Presbyterian Church. Denver passed away May 9, 2001.
