Margaret Elaine (Dougan) Torres, 80, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 25, 2025.
She was born February 16, 1945, in Idaho Falls, at Sacred Heart Hospital, to George and Ruth (Hardcastle) Dougan, one of seven children. She grew up in Spencer, Idaho, and later lived in Montana before returning home.
In 1963, Margaret married Arnold Ray Torres, and together they had two daughters, Carol (1964), and Sheila (1966). Arnold passed in 1967 in a tragic accident. Margaret later had two more children, Lahoma (Ranae) in 1969, and Gerald in 1975.
She worked as a CNA and in housekeeping, often holding multiple jobs to support her family. She was a strong advocate for those with disabilities and was always for the underdog.
Margaret loved animals, especially cats and birds, and will be remembered as the kind of granny who always had a cat in her lap.
She was preceded in death by her husband Arnold; parents, George and Ruth; siblings, William (infant), Dixie, Kathy, Bonnie; and her daughter, Carol.
Survivors include her brother, Stuart Dougan of Idaho Falls; sister, Barbara Marcum of Harker Heights, TX; children, Lahoma (Ranae) Torres of Idaho Falls, and Gerald (Karen) Pearson of Stanwood, WA; grandchildren, Haley Vielle, Andrew Torres, Lizzy, Ian, and Ava Pearson, Chris (Chelsey) Murphy; great-grandchildren, Avianna Torres, and Brody Murphy; and many nieces and nephews who she loved like her own.
Margaret will be laid to rest next to her late husband and daughter in Eureka, Montana.
