Margaret Grace Gneiting Koster, 92, of Iona, Idaho, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 20, 2011, at The Homestead Assisted Living Center in Rigby of natural causes due to old age. She was under the care of Aspen Home Health & Hospice and the family wishes to thank them for their loving and caring service. Margaret was born March 6, 1918, in Sandy, Utah, to Joseph Ephraim Thornblad and Martha Zetterquest Thornblad, the fifth of twelve children. She grew up in Sandy attended West Jordan High School. On January 28, 1939, she married Leo Abe Gneiting in Sandy, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized March 29, 1956, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Margaret was a devoted homemaker and mother. Leo passed away February 10, 1967. After Leo's death she married LaMont Mortensen and they were later divorced. She then married Leonard Koster on October 11, 1980, in Coltman, Idaho. Leonard passed away January 7, 1997. She was a member of .The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a primary teacher and worked in the clothing department at the Idaho Falls Temple. Margaret loved flowers and all the beauty and great joy they brought to her. Her whole life was dedicated to serving and loving her family. All who knew her loved her upbeat attitude and the kindness she showed to all who entered her home. Margaret is survived by five sons, Lanny (Marilyn) Gneiting of Orem, UT, Gary (Prudy) Gneiting of Rigby, ID, Michael (Shirley) Gneiting of Idaho Falls, ID, Dale Gneiting of Iona, ID, and Greg (Melanie) Gneiting of Rigby, ID; one daughter, Diana (Bill) Bailey of Bremerton, WA; 26 grandchildren, 70 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Margaret's posterity, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, are all still alive. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Robert Gneiting, and eleven siblings. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 22, 2011, at the Iona LDS 1st Ward, 5169 East Denning, Iona, with Bishop Kim Ryan officiating. The family will visit with friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and Saturday from 12 to 12:45 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Grant-Central Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
