Margaret "J" Fisher Jacobson, 88, of Swan Valley, passed away in Idaho Falls on December 27, 2011, from complications after a stroke on December 23rd.
A lifelong resident of Swan Valley, Margaret was born January 30, 1923, in Annis, Idaho, in her Grandma Brown’s home, the daughter of John Caton Fisher and Joanna Austin Brown Fisher. She was raised along Pine Creek in Swan Valley and attended school at the old Pine Creek School House and Idaho Falls High School.
She married Lloyd Agustus Jacobson January 3, 1946, in Glendale, California, and their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on June 8, 1963. They moved to Swan Valley shortly after they married and ran their ranch in Swan Valley together. Margaret served as City Clerk in Swan Valley for 31 years and cooked for the Senior Citizens of Swan Valley for 20 years. She was also the local correspondent for the Post Register. Margie loved the history of Swan Valley and had a collection of scrapbooks that reflects all published articles regarding Swan Valley from 1943 to 2010. Lloyd passed away July 1, 1995.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she served in various capacities over the years. Margie loved car rides around southeast Idaho, looking at the scenery, wildlife, and the progress of the crops. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary for 65 years, holding district and unit offices. Margaret was also an active member of the Swan Valley Pinochle Club and enjoyed the friendship and joy of playing cards with her lifelong friends.
A proud mother of two, Margaret is survived by her children,
DeLloyd J Jacobson of Swan Valley, ID and Vacaville, CA; and
Michele Jacobson Hornby of Swan Valley, ID and Mesa, AZ;
6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, all her siblings, her husband, and a son-in-law, Glen Hornby.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 31, 2011, at the Swan Valley LDS Palisade Ward. The family will visit with friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Annis-Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
