Margaret Jacobsen

Margaret Carolyn Jacobsen, 85, of Idaho Falls, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at The Gables Assisted Living in Idaho Falls. Margaret was born September 22, 1925, in Crescent City, California, to Clarence Alton Patton and Florence Della Patton. She grew up in Crescent City loving the ocean and Redwood forests. The ocean brought her future husband, Bill, into harbor on a naval ship. William “Bill” Jacobsen and Margaret Carolyn Patten were married March 9, 1943. They were married for 63 years. Margaret was a homemaker her entire life. She loved to garden and was known for her beautiful flowers, especially her roses. She canned all that she grew, and many benefited from her delicious jams, pickles, salsa, and countless jars of fruits and vegetables. She was also an expert on embroidery, crochet, and knitting. Her children and grandchildren have been kept warm by her many afghans, slippers, mittens, and sweaters. Her beautiful, delicately crocheted tablecloths and doilies are a legacy for her family. Margaret loved music and enjoyed playing the piano. She loved cooking and her delicious pies, cookies, and breads were enjoyed by all. Survivors include her children, Joseph (Peggy) Jacobsen of Omaha, Nebraska; Bill (Josie) Jacobsen of Roy, UT; Carla (Michael) McDonald of Chester, ID; Karin (B.J.) Bybee of Idaho Falls, ID; Jon (Cathy) Jacobsen of Meridian, ID; Susan Miller of Caldwell, ID; Bonnie (Shawn) Marshall of Idaho Falls, ID; James Jacobsen of Boise, ID; Thomas Jacobsen of Idaho Falls, ID; 29 grandchildren, and 38 great grandchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her son Michael, and her grandsons Stephen Knudson and Mark Bybee.

Graveside Services -- Saturday

Saturday February 12, 2011 , 12:30 p.m. at Ammon Cemetery

The family will visit with friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12 Noon at Wood Funeral Home (273 North Ridge Avenue) prior to leaving for the cemetery.
