PEGGY ACKERMAN
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother
and great grandmother, Peggy Ackerman, passed away February 23, 2005,
at the age of 73 at Life Care Center of Idaho Falls, due to complications
of Alzheimer's disease.
She was born August 26, 1931, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to
Joseph Willard Holden and Lillian Grace Barrows. She was the sixth of
seven children. Peggy grew up in Blackfoot where she attended elementary
school and then moved to Idaho Falls, where she attended junior high and
high school.
She married the love of her life, Dick Ackerman, on July
3, 1948, in Idaho Falls. Dick and Peggy were blessed with three beautiful
children, two daughters, Brenda and Debbie, and a son, Rick. Peggy worked
as a checkout clerk at Dick's Market, Safeway and Albertson’s. She
then pursued her banking career at Bank of Commerce, Valley Bank and retired
from Key Bank. After retiring, she helped her husband manage the Heise
Campground for several years.
Peggy had a love for dancing; she and Dick "cut
a mean rug." She also loved music, water and snow skiing, snow machining,
golfing, gardening, camping, sewing and crafting. She was the president
of the D.O.E.S. and coached physically impaired children in a bowling
league.
Peggy had a great love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Dick Ackerman; her children,
Brenda (John) St. Clair, Debbie Sanders, and Rick (Tina) Ackerman; sister,
Mert Owen; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces
and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; four
sisters; and one granddaughter.
The family wishes to express their greatest appreciation
to the staff of Idaho Falls Life Care Center and third floor of E.I.R.M.C.
who were so loving and caring.
Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, February
26, 2005, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, Idaho Falls, with
Pastor Kim Fields of St. Paul's United Methodist Church officiating.
A Viewing will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and
the family will meet with friends Saturday for one hour before services,
both at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery
in Idaho Falls.
