MARGARET HAGGARD
IONA, ID -- Margaret “Margie” Dalling Haggard,
79, of Iona, died August 10, 2004, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
She was born March 22, 1925 in St. Anthony, Idaho, to Marshall R. Dalling
and Blanche Thomas Dalling.
She lived in Sugar City until the age of 12 when her
father was transferred to Idaho Falls by the Utah-Idaho Sugar Company.
She graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1943. She worked for Dr.
J. S. Allen doing office work and worked in the office of Kress Company
and then secretary for the Teamsters Union following graduation.
She met Melvin C. Haggard prior to his leaving for duty
in the Military Police stationed in San Francisco, CA. They were married
November 24, 1945, after his return from overseas, at the LDS Mission
Home in Los Angeles, California. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS
Temple on August 12, 1948.
They made their home for 9 months on a farm in Blackfoot
area and then in Idaho Falls and Iona. She worked in the office of Chesbro
Music Company for 8 years, Bonneville School District Lunch Program and
for Dr. Richard V. Pedersen at the Oral Health Center for 9 years. She
retired in 1986.
After retirement, she and her husband spent time during
the winter months in Tuscon, Arizona and St. George, Utah.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints, she served in ward and stake Primary, Sunday School, MIA, Relief
Society and was a Visiting Teacher. She and her husband served a 6 month
Service Mission to the Bishops Storehouse in 2001.
She enjoyed playing the piano, needlework, crafts, sewing
and yard work. One of the highlights of her life was being grandmother
“Nana” to her grandson, Alec.

Sister: Gaye (Jim) Weston, Idaho Falls, ID
1 Grandson
She was preceded in death by her son, Steven; a brother, Paul and sister-in-law
Shirley Dalling.
Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, August 16,
2004 at the Iona Ward Building (Iona Road and Ririe Highway).
The family will meet with friends on Sunday from 6-8
p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon) and for one hour prior
to the services at the church.
Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction
of Wood Funeral Home East Side.
